The Restore and Reunify Parenting Program was created in response to the unique needs and requests of families involved in child welfare. Parents, social workers, and clinicians frequently report that parenting classes available do not directly meet their needs. This class was developed with years of input from parents, social workers, and clinicians in order to efficiently and comprehensively benefit families. This curriculum prioritizes connecting risks identified by child welfare to parenting.

Parents often become involved with social services due to behaviors that impact parenting such as substance use, mental health, and intimate partner violence. Along with creating a supportive and informed environment to collaborate on navigating child welfare, this parenting program connects the circumstances we see on the surface to what lies underneath. Including survival skills, experiences, child development, and core beliefs.

Clinicians can be reluctant to take on clients involved in child welfare for a number of reasons. It can be intimidating to work with clients with limited understanding of the child welfare system, the pressures of court involvement, or feeling under skilled to help a parent due to the impact of social determinants of health.

Becoming certified in the Restore and Reunify Model will increase your skillset in working with parents who have involvement with social services. You will feel competent, helpful, and worth their time in a situation that often requires herculean efforts to overcome barriers. You will have access to well tested materials utilized with many parents who have a wide range of backgrounds, strengths, and capacities.
